A short-form food reel for Bataaata, a cloud kitchen - showcasing a raw papaya salad from prep to plating.
I handled both production and post-production, filming the entire reel on a mobile phone in a home kitchen, then transforming it into a polished social media asset using rhythm-driven editing, cinematic close-ups, and immersive sound design.
The entire project was filmed using a mobile phone in a home kitchen with limited space, controlled lighting, and no professional production equipment. Alongside capturing clean footage, the challenge was to make a simple recipe feel premium while maintaining fast pacing and strong audience retention.
I planned and filmed each shot to maximize visual variety using close-ups, overhead compositions, and detail shots. During post-production, the edit opens with a reverse-hook sequence, immediately revealing the finished dish before transitioning into the preparation process.
Every cut was synchronized with the music and kitchen sounds to create a rhythm-driven viewing experience. Action match cuts, speed ramps, cinematic color grading, and layered sound design were used to emphasize the textures of chopping, pouring, crushing, and plating, giving the final video a polished commercial feel despite the minimal production setup.
The final reel demonstrates how thoughtful planning, mobile cinematography, and professional post-production can transform a simple home kitchen shoot into a premium social media asset. The project highlights both production and editing capabilities while delivering a visually engaging, high-retention food reel optimized for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
